Committed to Christ, our fellowship, and to the community we serve.
In the years preceding the launch of Faith Baptist Church, Jayson Workman served on the church staff of Sauk Trail Baptist Temple under the leadership of his father-in-law, Pastor Bruce Humbert. The Lord began to press on Pastor Humbert’s heart the need for a church plant in the Green Garden area. He presented the burden to Jayson and asked him if he would ask God if it would be His will for him to lead that church plant and be the pastor.
In 2006, Pastor Jayson, his wife April, and their two daughters launched out with several families from Sauk Trail Baptist Temple and the blessings of that church and planted Green Garden Baptist Church. The initial meeting location was at Green Garden Elementary School. However, in those early years, they also found themselves meeting at the German American Heritage Center and the town hall building.
In the years to follow, God’s hand was on this group of believers as they began to see the vision for a building. People gave sacrificially to see property get purchased and then to see a building erected. In September of 2009, the doors were opened and Green Garden Baptist Church filled its new building with children’s classes, singing, and worship. In 2014, God led the leadership of Green Garden Baptist to launch a second site for church services. In order to facilitate multiple sites, Green Garden Baptist became Faith Baptist Church. In September of 2014 a new site was started in a rented facility in Joliet.
Pastor John and Pastor Mike came to Jackson Creek in 2012 to relaunch a church that desperately needed revitalization. Under their leadership the church experienced several years of growth and stability. After five years of ministering to the church in Manhattan, it was evident that God was working in the church and they would need to find facilities that would accommodate the growing ministry. Stepping out in faith in 2016, Pastor Mike and Pastor John led their congregation to begin a new partnership with Faith, asking God to reveal His will as they navigated this new season of ministry. Throughout 2017, God blessed this partnership with souls being saved and lives being changed.
As the churches continue to unite as Jackson Creek Fellowship Church, the prayer is that this process would by complete in early 2018. As these preparations are being made, the church continues to pray and ask God to guide their steps as they follow Him in this new season of ministry.
